At Sandgaard, we work every day to create a more sustainable future – both within our own supply chains and in the fashion industry in general. Our vision is to support a more sustainable development that not only impacts the way we work at Sandgaard but also supports a new movement toward a more circular, sustainable, and body-positive fashion industry. Significant change requires structure and action from everyone in the supply chain if the fashion industry is to improve.
We have set ambitious goals, created a ten-year plan, and each year we launch new initiatives to become even more sustainable. We believe that fashion and sustainability can go hand in hand.
We invite our partners, customers, and consumers to follow along and learn more about how we approach our sustainability journey.

At Sandgaard, we have set ambitious goals for how we contribute to the fashion industry's transformation towards a circular future. We do this by focusing specifically on 3 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which address clean water and sanitation, sustainable energy, and responsible consumption and production. Over the next 10 years, we will therefore make an extra effort to support these goals both internally and externally within the company.

PackagingAt Sandgaard, we aim to limit our use of new cardboard. Therefore, 70% of the cardboard boxes we receive are given a new life. We either reuse them ourselves or pass them on to a local producer for their own production. Approximately 30% of the boxes are in such poor condition that they cannot be reused — instead, they are recycled. Inspireret af 12.5 Substantially reduce waste generation |

DurabilityWe will implement initiatives to enhance comfort and, consequently, extend the lifespan of our products. This will be achieved through big data activities focusing on sizing and comfort. Additionally, we will strengthen our communication regarding proper washing and care of our clothing, aiming to prolong the life of our garments. At Sandgaard, we aim to be leaders in the fashion industry's green transition. We know this requires us to be transparent about our own carbon footprint. Therefore, in this report, we provide an insight into our direct CO2 emissions (Scope 1 + 2). We will publish data on our indirect emissions (Scope 3) in 2027.
In 2021, we launched several initiatives to reduce our environmental impact:
Our entire value chain will exclusively use renewable energy. Specifically, we will:
- Establish renewable energy installations
- Place solar panels on our roof to make our facilities energy efficient
- Switch all our lighting installations to LED, which will reduce our electricity consumption by 30%
No waste in our value chain (neither at our facilities nor with our retailers). Specifically, we will/have:
- As technology allows, ensure the recycling of our products whenever possible
- Introduced a take-back program for unsold products, where retailers can return unsold goods for a small fee
- Internally avoid waste by creating “lucky bags” for retailers, holding warehouse sales, and donating goods
- We recycle 70% of our cardboard boxes and reuse the rest — all cardboard is FSC® certified
- Focus on handling plastic: prioritizing more sustainable plastics — either recyclable or biodegradable
- Created an online guide for the correct washing and maintenance of our products for end-users

Individualization is a central part of Sandgaard. Through our clothing collections, we strive to give women the freedom to feel confident and express their own identity. We know that women are diverse, have different shapes, and are in various stages of their lives. Therefore, we aim to offer women the ultimate opportunity to be themselves and provide them with the clothing that makes it possible.
Through our Norm by Sandgaard initiative, we work every day to bring a new normal to the fashion industry, focusing on the fact that normal is the diversity of bodies. We have launched a large big data project to better understand women’s bodies and shapes. In this way, we can begin the work of creating clothing that is made for women — not the illusion of women. Based on our big-data research, in recent years, we have been able to work on developing body-positive jeans. Additionally, we continue to support body-positive projects in 2023.
At Sandgaard, we highly prioritize acting responsibly and transparently at the management level. In this regard, we have developed a Code of Conduct that outlines our guidelines on the following areas: human rights, working conditions, the environment, and anti-corruption. It is expected that both our own employees and our suppliers adhere to our Code of Conduct. Our Code of Conduct is freely available on our member page at the UN Global Compact Network Denmark.
